Senior Arabic Translator (Children's Literature)
We are looking to hire a Senior Arabic Translator to join us in our mission to educate the world. The successful candidate shall be responsible for translating fiction and nonfiction content targeting children and young readers from English to Arabic.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading through original material, understanding it fully, and translating it into the target language, ensuring that the intellectual and structural content of the source language is maintained
- Translating, editing, and reviewing fiction and nonfiction content for children and young readers, ensuring the Arabic text is logically structured, is easy to read, and adheres to the source
- Making sure the Arabic text is in the correct style for the intended audience through sufficient research, checking with reviewers, and good revision
- Using specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology, words, and idioms used
- Proofreading and editing final translated versions to ensure the quality of the translated material
- Adhering to Nagwa's in-house style guide, following reviewers instructions, and making sure to meet the applicable qualitative and quantitative standards
QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in translation and linguistics or any other relevant field
- Excellent command of both English and Arabic, with good writing skills
- 1+ years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of translation and editing techniques
