We are looking to hire a Senior Data Scientist to join us in our mission to educate the world. The successful candidate shall be responsible for supporting our Product, Sales, Leadership, and Marketing Teams with insights gained from analyzing company data. The ideal candidate shall be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Working with stakeholders in the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
  • Sifting and analyzing data from multiple angles, looking for trends that highlight operational problems or business opportunities
  • Using a combined knowledge of computer science and applications, modeling, statistics, analytics, and math to solve problems
  • Assessing the effectiveness of data sources and techniques of data gathering and improving data collection methods to ensure that data gathering and collection meet the industry’s best practices and are cost effective
  • Building algorithms and designing experiments to merge, manage, interrogate, and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers, or the wider organization
  • Using machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems
  • Creating clear reports that explain how customers or clients deal with and benefit from the company
  • Staying curious and enthusiastic about using algorithms to solve problems and to inspire others by making them see the benefits of your work
  • Recruiting, training, and leading a team of data scientists who will be responsible for the organization's data practice strategy 
  • Establishing new systems and processes and looking for opportunities to improve the flow of data

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • 5–7 years of experience as a data scientist
  • Very good command of the English language
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, R, SQL, and Scala) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools (such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, and Spark), common data science tool kits (such as NumPy, pandas, PySpark, MATLAB, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras), data visualization tools (such as Grafana, Tableau, Matplotlib, and Seaborn), and NoSQL databases (such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and HBase)
  • Experience working with and creating data architecture
  • Excellent understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, decision trees, GLM/regression, random forest, boosting, text mining, and social network analysis
  • Proficiency in using query engines and languages, such as SQL, Hive, and Pig
  • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers, such as Google Analytics, SiteCatalyst, Coremetrics, AdWords, Crimson Hexagon, and Facebook Insights
