Senior Arabic Translator (Social Sciences)
We are looking to hire a Senior Arabic Translator to join us in our mission to educate the world. The successful candidate shall be responsible for translating educational content from English to Arabic for social sciences subjects.
Responsibilities
- Reading through original material and translating it to the target language, ensuring that the intellectual and structural content of the source language is maintained
- Translating, editing, and reviewing content for philosophy, sociology, psychology, and so on, ensuring the Arabic text is logically structured, is easy to read, is pedagogically sound, and is in the correct style for the intended audience
- Using specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used
- Proofreading and editing final translated versions to ensure the quality of the translated material
- Adhering to Nagwa's in-house style guide and glossaries and following reviewers instructions
- Making sure to meet the applicable standards through sufficient research, checking with reviewers, and good revision
- Consulting with subject matter experts to understand technical concepts and translate them appropriately
Qualifications & Work experience
- Bachelor's degree in translation and linguistics, humanities, or any other relevant field
- Good experience and familiarity with social sciences in Arabic
- Excellent command of both English and Arabic, with good writing skills
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of translation and editing techniques
